Tidal Glacier

We will enter College Fjord, its tidal and inland glaciers named after many East Coast Colleges by members of the Harriman Expedition in 1899. The tidal glaciers are quite active and the whole area makes for very scenic cruising.

Entering Yakutat Bay we will not only visit the community, where fishing is still the largest economy, we will also cruise along the front of North America's largest tidal glacier.

Inian Island & Point Adolphus, Alaska, USA

At Inian Island, we will search for some of the emblematic animals of Alaska: Bald Eagles, Tufted Puffins, Steller Sea Lions, Sea Otters, and Humpback Whales. Point Adolphus is another well-known area for whale watching.

Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte), Canada

Learn the history and art at the Haida Heritage Center at Kaay Llnagaay, where six totem poles were raised in 2001. Visit traditional sites and hike in the predominantly western red cedar and hemlock forests.

While cruising the more than 100 miles of major navigation channel Johnstone Strait, look out for Humpback Whales and the 150 resident Orcas that are often seen in the area.
